However, individuals with darker skin tones and sensitive skin are more likely to experience reactions following a chemical peel. Chemical peels are made up of chemical solutions that enhance tone and texture by eliminating damaged or older outer skin layers. Light peels often comprise mild acids such as glycolic acid. Stronger peels use more intense chemicals and in greater amounts. Superficial peels are effective for the skin's surface, while medium and deep peels address more significant conditions like acne scars, wrinkles and sun damage. Our team will work with you to determine the appropriate strength of your chemical peel and the number of sessions required for the best results.

When you arrive for your chemical peel, your provider will start by gently cleansing the targeted area. Your chemical peel will then be applied to the clean skin for a specific duration before being removed.

Light peels typically do not require topical anesthesia, but you may be prepped with numbing cream for a medium or deep peel. If you experience stinging or itching during a peel, a cold compress can be applied afterward to provide relief. The entire procedure should take no more than an hour to complete.

Light chemical peels typically require no downtime for recovery. However, medium or deep chemical peels may necessitate some downtime, depending on the number and severity of treatments. After the procedure, you may experience redness, dry skin or flaking. It's important to apply an adequate amount of moisturizer and avoid sun exposure for a short period following your treatment. Your provider will give you additional aftercare instructions during and after the procedure.

Chemical peels can help restore a more youthful complexion and reverse signs of aging. Your results will depend on how many sessions you require and the extent and severity of your skin condition. Deep, penetrating peels may only need to be performed once, while lighter peels may require multiple sessions. Dermaplaning treatments may be coupled with peels to maximize results.
